Cirtek Electronics Corp. looks to expand its production and increase its revenues with two major tier 1 customers for the full turnkey services of their new products, Quad Flat No Leads Package (QFN).
In a statement on Monday, the firm’s holding company, Cirtek Holdings Philippines Corp. (CHPC), said the QFN package is used for high volume products like smartphones, personal computers and laptops.
The firm said the devices are expected to be the main drivers of the global semiconductor industry for the year.
“The company is fortunate to be in an industry that is about to experience a revolutionary boom and we are very excited to take part in creating and shaping a new world as we emerge where technology and communications will be a main driving force as evidenced by this pandemic,” CHPC Vice Chairman Jorge Aguilar was quoted as saying in the statement.
Cirtek added that the second major capacity expansion involves a US-based global semiconductor company focused on gallium nitride high-power transistors and modules for high-voltage power conversion applications.
“The product is for intelligent power modules that will increase efficiency and reliability in energy power system, electric chargers for electric vehicles, power adapters and inverters,” the company explained.
Cirtek sees both businesses contributing an additional volume of production increase by 20 percent.
It also cited the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics, which predicts semiconductor sales to accelerate by 8.4 percent in 2021 to reach a revenue of $469 billion.
Meanwhile, Quintel USA Inc. is expected to release a new line of C-Band antenna family early this year.
This is following a successful auction last year when the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released its latest 5G (fifth-generation) spectrum for sale, making available 280 megahertz of prime mid-band frequencies in the 3.7- to 3.98-gighertz range, a portion of the new 5G C-Band.
“Having been focused the entire 2020 on research and development, as well as new product introductions, Quintel is poised to capture the next revolution in telecom and connectivity known as 5G,” Cirtek said.
Cirtek Advanced Technology and Solutions, on the other hand, looks to roll out its 5G chipset for mass production.
Shares of CHPC rose 87 centavos or 11.8 percent to close at P8.24 each on Monday.
